Description: Folios 95-96. To: The Local Government Act Office. From: J Hibbert, Clerk to the Hyde Local Board, Hyde, [Cheshire]. A letter. Hibbert explains that the Hyde Board have borrowed funds under the provisions of the Public Works (Manufacturing Districts) Act 1863 in order to pave, level, flag, channel, and sewer certain streets in their District. The loan is to be expended on these works and then defrayed by repayments made by residents in properties abutting the improved streets. However, Hibbert says that there is some confusion about the level at which the Board should set these repayments and how they should be recovered. He puts these questions to the Office and requests their advice.
