Description: Folios 22-24. To: The Local Government Act Office. From: William Toy, Clerk to the Hurst Local Board, 154 Stamford Street, Ashton-under-Lyme, [Lancashire]. A letter and a petition addressed to the Home Secretary by P Cooper, Chairman of the Hurst Local Board. Toy forwards the petition which requests the Home Secretary's remittance of two surcharges made on the Hurst Board's accounts by their auditor. One of the payments was prohibited because it was out of date and the second because it should have been included in Toy's salary. The surcharges are £16 12 s and £9 4s 11d respectively.
