Description: Folios 806-808. To: The Local Government Act Office. From: William Pickrell, Burnham, [Burnham on Sea, Somerset]. Letter stating that the matter of the chairman's conduct and the election of members of the local board has been laid before the justices at petty sessions, first at Axbridge and then at Weston Super Mare. With notes of the proceedings at petty sessions at which Joseph Allen was charged with taking votes for Mr Thwaites and Mr Reed although he knew they were not resident in the district; he did not attend the offices of the local board on the day following the election to 'test the votes'; and that he certified Thwaites and Reed as duly elected although they were not resident. The magistrates recommended the case be taken to the Queen's Bench.
