Description: Mr Sutherland, Purveyor, Lyndhurst. Has discussed the question of stripping the bark from trees whilst they are standing with Mr Whitworth, Surveyor General of His Majesty's Woods. He does not know whether this may be of advantage to the timber and fears it may be detrimental. He proposes to deliver a double quantity of winter felled oak and beech this year and to be made an allowance for the bark and for the disadvantages from felling in winter rather than summer.
