Description: Content: Folios 242-244. Letter from Thomas Rudland, Bramfield, to the Poor Law Commission, in response to their letter of 25 August 1835. He has not heard that the medical appointments are likely to take place. He knows that it is of no use to make any more proposals to the present guardians as the ex-officio guardians 'carry so much sway' by their interests that he has sent his proposals direct to Mr Chadwick. He does not want to trouble the Commission unless it is appropriate. 'As Thomas Rudland of Wrentham and Wangford and also of Halesworth will take the medical attendance of the poor of the adjoining 25 parishes for the sum of £150 midwifery excluded and the casualty poor at five shillings per head, and the poor of the Blything Poor Law Union House at £30 per year for one year if the Commission approves of these proposals you will have the goodness to favour me with an answer'. Annotated: with a draft reply, 10 September 1835. The Commission have received his letter and refer him back to their previous letter, they would not be justified in interfering in the case. [Folio 242 is a small paper tab.] Poor Law Union Number 432. Counties: Suffolk.
