Description: Folios 28A-28B. A letter from J R Keele, the Mayor of Southampton, [Hampshire], informing it has been quiet there since the burning of Baker's saw mill. He states that they have sworn in 600 voluntary special constables and that they have nightly patrols of the town and the immediate surrounding area and all approach roads. He refers to 40 men of the fourth regiment being stationed in the town and that they were able to send 30 of these men across the river to Fawley to assist against a rising of the labouring classes last night.
