Description: A post-medieval (c.1500-1700) copper alloy double-oval buckle frame with angled outside edges and both loops bending upwards from the central bar. It is missing a pin. The outside edges have worn foliate decoration, similar to that of the sword belt fittings of a similar date. This buckle may well have functioned as part of a sword belt set. The buckle is brown in colour with a pitted patina, where it remains. It measures 31.2mm in length, 19.8mm in width (internal loops c.9x13mm) and weighs 3.76g.
