Description: Roman copper alloy pelta-shaped mount with residue of solder on the reverse. It is D-shaped in section (being flat on the underside) and measures 31.2x22.7x2.6mm and weighs 6.71g.
The central 'arm' is bifurcated. The outer arms are apparantly rounded, one more so than the other which is rather more pointed.
All original patina has been lost and the metal is a greeny/ grey colour.
Pelta shaped mounts are associated with the military and can be given a 4th century date.
