THIMBLE 1011650
Description: A crushed and incomplete sewing thimble of post Medieval date, made of silver sheet, which has broken along a longitudinal butt seam on one side. The thimble has lost its dome, which would have been made separately and soldered into place. The pits are circular and slightly irregular in distribution. There is a broad plain band with beaded borders around the base which carries a faint maker's mark, possibly a crown or coronet. There is also a drilled hole in this band on one side of the broken seam. Length: 28.8mm; Height: 18mm; Weight: 4.66g.
